8. Some anecdotes

  • 'Le Hussard sur le toit', the 1994 film with Juliette Binoche, was shot in the region, in Buis-Les-Baronnies (where 300 extras participated!), at La Rochette-sur-Buis and Mirabel-aux-Baronnies.
  • The film 'Le Goût des Merveilles', with Virginie Efira, was also shot here in Nyons, Montélimar, Piégon and Villedieu, for 35 days in 2014.
  • Adrien Bertrand, born in Nyons in 1888, won the prize in 1916 for 'L'Appel du Sol' written in 1914 from his notes and those of his brother during the First World War ... He was a journalist and poet, socialist and pacifist. A street bears his name in Nyons.

  • Paul Colin, novelist, lover of aromatic plants, wrote in Nyons, 'Les Jeux Sauvages' in 1950 which earned him the famous prize.
  • More recently, Éric Vuillard, who did part of his high school in Nyons, won the Goncourt in 2017 for his novel 'L'Ordre du Jour'.
  • Finally, it is near Dieulefit, where he resides, that Hervé Le Tellier largely wrote his novel 'L'Anomalie', 2020 Goncourt prize winner.
Today, two renowned authors live in Nyons:
  • Claire Braud, author of delightful comic books with L'Association and Casterman among others, and a very nice children's book at École des Loisirs entitled 'Un Poney à Paris'. Claire will create a mural at Villa Barri under the vaults of the garden-level in the fall of 2023.
  • Adrien Albert, author of children's books at École des Loisirs, lives in Nyons and was even in residence at Villa Barri on the top floor during the renovation of the house in the winter of 2022-23 to draw his next book!
